The current military operation in Iran is important from an ethical and political standpoint but should have little economic impact for the free world. Iran sells oil to China and weapons to the Russians so that they can kill Ukrainians. For the rest of the world, the Iranian dictatorship has squandered so much of the country's vast resources that it has minimal impact. Below is a chart showing the difference in Gross Domestic Product between Saudi Arabia and Iran over the ten years ended in 2024. Surely the numbers are even greater today.
None of this means that there will not be buying opportunities as some people panic. That is to be expected. Should opportunities arise we shall do our best to exploit them.
